German Companies Membership At Abu Dhabi Chamber Climbs By 17% Amid Growing Economic Ties
Abu Dhabi is becoming a key location for German businesses, with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry seeing a 17% rise in membership by August 2025 compared to the previous year. This increase highlights growing trust from German investors in Abu Dhabi's business-friendly environment, as the emirate strengthens its position as a global centre for innovation and investment.
Last year, trade between the UAE and Germany, excluding oil, surpassed AED50 billion (US$13.8 billion), marking a 5.4% growth from the prior year. To boost these strong business ties further, a high-level UAE economic delegation plans to visit Germany from 15th to 18th September. They aim to explore new economic cooperation opportunities and strengthen strategic partnerships that support sustainable development in both countries.

German firms are actively participating in sectors like engineering, energy, aviation, logistics, and finance within Abu Dhabi. This rapid growth shows the German business community's confidence in Abu Dhabi as an integrated economic hub, supported by top-notch infrastructure and investor-friendly regulations.
Emirati companies have also expanded their presence in Germany through major institutions like Mubadala, DP World, Emirates Airline, dnata, Dubai Islamic Bank, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. These entities operate across strategic sectors such as aircraft maintenance, port management, finance, and clean energy. They represent Abu Dhabi’s ambition to build strong connections with one of the world's leading industrial economies.
Shamis Al Dhaheri, Second Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated: "The economic partnership between Abu Dhabi and Germany is a prime example of international cooperation founded on complementarity and knowledge exchange." He noted that increased trade volume and more German companies registering in Abu Dhabi highlight the strength of their economic ties.
The Chamber is dedicated to being an integrative platform for businesses by offering comprehensive digital services. It facilitates dialogue between public and private sectors while launching initiatives focused on entrepreneurs, businesswomen, and family-owned enterprises. These efforts empower the private sector as a vital engine for sustainable development.
Future Opportunities for Collaboration
The Chamber is actively forming strategic economic partnerships with international and regional entities. This approach unlocks new global market opportunities for national companies while enhancing Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a preferred destination for long-term investment and collaboration.
Opportunities for deeper cooperation exist in manufacturing, advanced technology, renewable energy, and logistics. These sectors align with the Abu Dhabi Chamber’s 2025-2028 Roadmap aimed at advancing diversification, innovation, and global competitiveness of the private sector.
