GACA President Outlines Strategy For Saudi Arabia As Leading Logistics Hub By 2030

The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, highlighted the Kingdom's ambition to become a leading global logistics hub by 2030. This goal is part of the National Aviation Strategy. Al-Duailej shared these insights during a panel discussion on air freight's role in enhancing Saudi Arabia's position in the global logistics sector.

The Global Logistics Forum, held in Riyadh from October 12 to 14, was organised by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics. It took place under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The forum provided a platform for discussing strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening Saudi Arabia's logistics capabilities.

GACA s Vision for Kingdom as Logistics Hub

Al-Duailej emphasised Saudi Arabia's strategic geographical location as a significant advantage. Positioned at the intersection of three continents, approximately half of the world's population is within a five-hour flight from the Kingdom. This unique positioning allows for swift and efficient connections to key markets through air freight.

In response to growing geopolitical pressures on supply chains, Saudi Arabia aims to enhance its air freight capabilities. The plan involves increasing its cargo fleet from seven to 27 planes in partnership with national carriers. This expansion aligns with the Kingdom's broader aviation goals.

By 2030, Saudi Arabia plans to significantly boost its aircraft numbers from 241 to 657. This includes an increase to 187 wide-body and 470 narrow-body aircraft. Such growth will position Saudi Arabia as a globally competitive force in aviation infrastructure.

Al-Duailej noted that these developments are crucial for achieving the Kingdom’s air freight objectives. The expansion supports broader logistics strategies aimed at establishing Saudi Arabia as a pivotal player in global trade and transportation networks.

The focus on expanding air freight capabilities reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging its geographical advantages. By enhancing connectivity and infrastructure, the Kingdom aims to solidify its status as a top-tier logistics hub by 2030.
