G42 Receives US Approval For Advanced AI Chip Exports, Strengthening UAE–US AI Collaboration
The White House has approved the export of advanced AI semiconductors to G42, marking a significant step in the UAE–US AI partnership. This decision highlights the strong bilateral trust and commitment to building secure, scalable AI infrastructure. The move transitions projects from planning to deployment, enhancing the collaboration between the two nations.
This development accelerates key projects in the UAE, such as Stargate UAE. This 1-gigawatt AI compute cluster is being constructed by G42 for OpenAI with partners like Oracle, Cisco, NVIDIA, and SoftBank Group. Stargate UAE is part of a larger 5-gigawatt AI hub designed to provide compute capacity and low-latency inferencing across the region.

The UAE–US AI Campus supports technology collaborations with major US tech companies like Microsoft, AMD, Qualcomm, and Cerebras. This licensing of advanced chips builds on a shared operational framework developed through close US–UAE cooperation. It ensures secure global distribution of American technology under strict regulatory guidelines.
The deployment of these chips will be managed by the Regulated Technology Environment (RTE), a compliance framework pioneered by G42. This framework has been approved under guidelines from the US Department of Commerce and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS). It ensures that all operations adhere to international standards.
Peng Xiao, Group CEO of G42, stated: "This announcement marks a defining moment for G42 and our partners as we move from planning into execution. Our shared infrastructure model sets a new benchmark for secure, high-performance computing that is designed to serve the needs of both nations. What we build in the UAE, we will continue to match in the US, maintaining symmetry and trust at every layer."
Strategic Outlook
Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Secretary-General of the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, commented on this development: "This decision affirms the depth of trust that underpins the UAE–US relationship. It reflects a shared strategic outlook - where technology is not merely a tool of progress but a platform for stability, economic resilience, and long-term cooperation. The UAE is proud to play a constructive role in shaping that future."
The UAE stands out as the only nation in its region undertaking such large-scale infrastructure development aligned with US regulatory frameworks. This includes adherence to export controls and governance protocols that ensure compliance with international standards.
Global AI Footprint
G42's operational AI infrastructure includes three supercomputers ranked among the Top500 globally. These include two supercomputers within the region and Maximus-01 in New York, which ranks 20th worldwide. G42's expanding AI presence now covers Abu Dhabi, France, and several US locations including California, Minnesota, Texas, and New York.
This collaboration between G42 and its partners signifies an important milestone in advancing AI capabilities while maintaining regulatory compliance. The ongoing efforts reflect a commitment to fostering technological growth that benefits both nations economically and strategically.
