Future Minerals Forum To Convene Global Geological Survey Leaders In January 2025
The Future Minerals Forum is set to take place in Riyadh in January 2025. This event will feature two significant international gatherings: the second International Meeting of Geological Survey Authorities and the inaugural Meeting of Centers of Excellence and Technology. These meetings aim to enhance global collaboration in mining and improve geological research capabilities, crucial for energy transition and industrial growth.
On January 14, the second Meeting of International Geological Survey Leaders will convene. It will bring together leaders from geological survey authorities across Africa and Asia, alongside representatives from the U.S., British, French (BRGM), and Finnish (GTK) Geological Surveys. The focus will be on strengthening geological capacities in the Greater Region, which includes Africa, West Asia, and Central Asia.

Participants at this meeting will discuss strategies to attract more investments by empowering geologists and using digital technology and artificial intelligence. These tools are essential for accurately identifying mineral sites. Additionally, there is a proposal to establish a regional center of excellence to promote innovation, skill development, and technology adoption in mineral-rich countries.
Simultaneously, the forum will host the first Meeting of Centers of Excellence and Technology. This initiative stems from the International Ministerial Meeting and involves academic institutions such as specialized institutes and universities. The goal is to form a regional network that focuses on capacity building and accelerating technological advancements in the Greater Region's minerals sector.
This network aims to ensure leadership in the minerals sector by enhancing skills and adopting new technologies. By fostering collaboration among academic institutions, it seeks to build a robust framework for innovation and development within the region.
The Future Minerals Forum represents a significant opportunity for international cooperation in mining. By bringing together experts from various fields, it aims to advance geological research capacities essential for sustainable industrial development.
