Fujairah Crown Prince Emphasises Importance Of Islamic Arts At FICCO 25 Closing Ceremony

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, emphasised the significance of reviving Islamic arts and highlighting their aesthetic value within human heritage. This was expressed during his presence at the closing ceremony of the 2nd Fujairah International Conference on Calligraphy and Ornamentation (FICCO 25) in Fujairah, where he was joined by his son, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi.

The conference, held from October 18 to 19, showcased 18 specialised research papers. These papers explored key topics related to the history, philosophy, and aesthetics of Islamic arts. A notable lecture titled "From Sacred Geometry to Generative Code" offered a modern perspective on integrating Islamic ornamental elements with digital design tools.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the Fujairah Government's dedication to cultural and artistic projects under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah. These initiatives aim to spread Arab and Islamic arts in various forms while preserving them through diverse expressions. This commitment aligns with the UAE’s vision and strategies in the cultural and arts sector.

The art exhibition accompanying the conference featured works by professors and artists worldwide who specialise in calligraphy and ornamentation. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed visited this exhibition, which displayed a rich collection of artistic contributions from different cultures.

During the event, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed honoured speakers and participants from various academic and artistic institutions globally. Countries represented included the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, Spain, Turkiye, Japan, Pakistan, as well as Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, and Lebanon.

The conference served as a platform for presenting leading artistic and academic experiences from around the world. It aimed to foster an understanding of Islamic arts' aesthetic richness within human heritage.

The event underscored Fujairah's commitment to promoting cultural dialogue through art. By bringing together diverse perspectives on calligraphy and ornamentation, it highlighted both traditional practices and contemporary innovations in these fields.
