Friends Of Diabetes Association Meeting Highlights Health Awareness Initiatives For 2025

The Friends of Diabetes Association, under the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, recently held its annual general assembly meeting for 2025. The event gathered association members, representatives from the Ministry of Community Development and the Sharjah Social Services Department, along with public health specialists. The focus was on enhancing health awareness and promoting chronic disease prevention.

During the meeting, Khawla Taher Al Haj, Chairperson of the Friends of Diabetes Association, highlighted significant achievements from 2024. The association made notable progress through various initiatives aimed at raising awareness about diabetes prevention. These efforts included organising campaigns and workshops to encourage healthy living and support patients and their families.

Friends of Diabetes Association Boosts Health Awareness

The assembly approved administrative and financial reports and endorsed the work plan and budget for 2025. The upcoming year's focus is on developing health initiatives and expanding the reach of the association's programmes. This aims to increase the number of beneficiaries who can access these valuable resources.

Khawla Taher Al Haj stressed that preventing diabetes requires collective effort. "Preventing diabetes is a collective responsibility that begins with raising awareness and embedding healthy lifestyle habits," she stated. The association remains committed to delivering impactful initiatives and fostering community partnerships to enhance life quality in Sharjah and across the UAE.

The meeting also saw the approval of a new board of directors. New members include Dr. Fatima Abdul Rahman Al Zarouni, Dr. Noora Nasser Salem Misfer Al Karbi, and Dr. Amal Hamdan Mohammed Jarsh Al Suwaidi. These additions aim to bring fresh perspectives to the board's ongoing efforts in diabetes awareness.

The session concluded by emphasising the need for continued awareness programmes. Strengthening partnerships with relevant entities is crucial to broadening impact and achieving sustainable health development goals in Sharjah.
