FNC Speaker Saqr Ghobash And Kenya's Senate Speaker Discuss Enhancing Parliamentary Cooperation
Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), recently met with Amason Jeffah Kingi, Speaker of the Senate of Kenya, at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Their discussions centred on boosting parliamentary cooperation, reflecting the deepening ties between the UAE and Kenya. Both nations are committed to expanding their relationship, supported by their leadership's vision.
Ghobash highlighted that Kingi's visit was crucial for enhancing parliamentary collaboration. This aligns with both countries' goals to foster cooperation through better coordination and consultation on shared interests. The meeting was attended by several FNC members, underscoring its importance.

The relationship between the UAE and Kenya has evolved significantly since the 1980s. Ghobash noted that these ties have diversified across various sectors. The UAE is dedicated to building strong friendships and strategic partnerships with African parliaments. Ghobash mentioned that the FNC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the African Group within the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to boost parliamentary coordination.
Both parties acknowledged that UAE-Kenya relations have reached new heights across all areas. This progress is marked by the recent signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Abu Dhabi. The agreement aims to strengthen trade and investment ties, showcasing the UAE's commitment to expanding its partnerships in Africa.
