Flydubai Adds Al Jouf And Red Sea International To Its Growing Network In Saudi Arabia
Flydubai, the Dubai-based airline, has recently unveiled its expansion into the Saudi Arabian market with the introduction of flights to two new destinations. Starting from 18 April, the carrier will resume its service to Al Jouf and inaugurate flights to Red Sea International, marking a significant step in its growth within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. These flights, departing from Terminal 2 at Dubai International (DXB), are scheduled to operate twice weekly.
Hamad Obaidalla, Chief Commercial Officer at flydubai, expressed enthusiasm about enhancing the airline's network in the GCC through these new routes. He highlighted flydubai's dedication to contributing to the economic and tourism development in the area. Obaidalla also acknowledged the support from authorities and hinted at potential increases in frequency on existing routes to facilitate more convenient travel options.

Flydubai's expansion comes on the back of a growing network that now spans 129 destinations across 58 countries, supported by a fleet of 86 Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline has been active since the beginning of 2024, launching operations to several destinations including Langkawi, Mombasa, Penang, and announcing upcoming flights to Basel, Riga, Sochi, Tallinn, and Vilnius.
Sudhir Sreedharan, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at flydubai, noted the airline's pioneering role in connecting UAE passengers directly to Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea resorts. This move is part of flydubai's strategy to access underserved markets and enhance connectivity through Dubai’s aviation hub.
Red Sea International Airport (RSI) serves as a gateway for visitors to The Red Sea destination, which is currently home to two luxury resorts: Six Senses Southern Dunes and St. Regis Red Sea Resort. With plans for three more resorts to open this year and a total of 50 resorts by 2030, The Red Sea aims to become a premier destination featuring luxury marinas, golf courses, and entertainment facilities.
Michael White, Chief Commercial Officer of Red Sea International Airport, welcomed the introduction of international flights by flydubai as a milestone for RSI’s development. Following the commencement of domestic flights in September of the previous year, White looks forward to expanding RSI’s network to accommodate global travelers.
This expansion by flydubai not only strengthens its presence in the GCC but also offers travelers unprecedented access to emerging tourist destinations in Saudi Arabia, promising a boost in regional tourism and economic growth.
