UAE-Morocco Business Council Holds Inaugural Meeting In Sharjah To Boost Economic Ties

The first UAE-Morocco Business Council meeting was hosted by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Vice Chairman of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of SCCI, expressed pride in this event. The meeting included Ahmed Al Tazi, Morocco's Ambassador to the UAE, Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), and representatives from both countries' ministries.

Al Owais highlighted that this inaugural session in Sharjah signifies a new chapter in the robust relations between the UAE and Morocco. He noted that these ties are rapidly expanding across various sectors. The Council is expected to offer significant opportunities for businesses and investment institutions, supported by the Federation of UAE Chambers, CGEM, and relevant government bodies from both nations.

Al Owais emphasised that the UAE's proven expertise and unique advantages present numerous investment opportunities. These factors are anticipated to enhance cooperation between the two countries. He stated that meetings within the UAE-Moroccan Business Council will establish a foundation for future joint efforts among business communities. This includes leading business owners, investors, and representatives from major commercial entities in both nations.

Chakib Alj pointed out that forming this Council is a collaborative effort between CGEM and the Federation of UAE Chambers. He stressed the potential for strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, agri-food industry, renewable energy, finance, and advanced technologies.

Alj also welcomed the increasing number of Moroccan companies choosing the UAE as their business hub. This trend reflects growing Emirati investments in Morocco and highlights dynamic economic relations between both countries. The Council aims to further bolster these connections through continued collaboration.

The UAE-Moroccan Business Council is co-chaired by Abdallah Sultan Al Owais on behalf of the Emirati side. Anas Guennoun represents Morocco as Vice-President of CGEM's International Affairs Committee. Both sides reviewed future mechanisms and action plans for the Council during their discussions.

Commitment to Continued Cooperation

The participants underscored the importance of ongoing collaboration between private sectors in both countries. They agreed on taking additional steps to strengthen relationships between institutions and companies in both regions. This commitment aims to foster mutual growth and development through shared initiatives.
