Evaluation Process Begins For Hamdan-ALECSO Award Recognising Educational Research Excellence In 2024
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences has begun evaluating entries for the 2024 Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research. This award encourages educational research throughout the Arab world, highlighting practices that enhance learning. This year, 154 research submissions have been received from 11 Arab countries, with Saudi Arabia leading with 103 papers, followed by Egypt with 17 and the UAE with 16.
Other nations participating include Jordan, Kuwait, and Oman, reflecting a regional commitment to educational innovation. The award aims to inspire researchers to produce work that benefits the educational ecosystem in the region. It identifies successful educational practices and addresses key challenges through rigorous research.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General and CEO of the foundation, noted an increase in submissions this year. He stated, "The significant rise in submissions this year is a clear indicator of the dedication shown by educational researchers across the Arab world towards improving the quality of education."
Dr. Al Suwaidi also highlighted the award’s mission to stimulate creative thinking in educational research. He emphasised finding innovative solutions to pressing challenges in the sector. "We look forward to seeing these research efforts contribute to the creation of robust, sustainable educational systems that support the future of learning across the Arab region," he added.
The Hamdan-ALECSO Award serves as a platform for recognising institutions and individuals for their contributions to education. An international panel of experienced academics will evaluate all submissions. The total prize money is US$25,000, targeting a broad range of researchers including teachers and university professors.
