ERRA Enhances Arab Cooperation To Safeguard Creators' Rights At Rabat Book Fair
The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) is actively participating in the "Sharjah Guest of Honour" events at the Rabat International Book and Publishing Fair (SIEL), which runs until 27th April. This involvement aims to boost expertise exchange between the UAE and Morocco in rights management, sharing successful legislative experiences and best practices.
Through its presence at the fair, ERRA seeks to raise awareness about the significance of reprographic rights culture. It emphasises protecting literary and creative rights while showcasing the UAE's national strategies for intellectual property protection. The association also aims to forge new partnerships and sign cooperation agreements with reprographic rights authorities in Morocco and other participating countries.

Dr. Mohammad Alkamali, a Board Member of ERRA, commented on their participation: "Our participation in the exhibition affirms our commitment to expanding cooperation with our brotherly nations in the Arab world and enhancing efforts to protect the intellectual rights of creators." He highlighted the importance of integrating cultural and legal institutions to foster innovation and safeguard creative products amidst rapid developments in creativity and intellectual property.
The association's programme features an exhibition booth within the "Sharjah Guest of Honour" pavilion, showcasing its activities and initiatives. A notable dialogue session titled "Preserving Creators' Rights – The Emirati-Moroccan Experience" brings together experts from both countries to discuss preserving reprographic and creative rights for authors.
This session explored policies, legislation, and institutions' roles in safeguarding creators' rights. It examined their contributions to developing the creative economy while addressing challenges faced by these sectors. Best practices were reviewed, along with innovative solutions aimed at ensuring sustainable creative production and supporting a knowledge-based economy.
Attendees included Mohammed bin Dekhain, President of ERRA; Dr. Mohammad Alkamali, a board member; and Dalal El Mhamdi El Alawi, Director of the Moroccan Office of Reprographic Right and Related Rights. Their presence underscored the collaborative efforts between UAE and Morocco in advancing reprographic rights management.
The event serves as a platform for exchanging insights on intellectual property protection strategies. By engaging with Moroccan counterparts, ERRA aims to learn from Morocco's pioneering experiences while sharing Emirati expertise in this field. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to fostering an environment that encourages innovation and protects creators' intellectual contributions.
