ENOC Group Joins Global Initiative Earth Hour 2024 To Promote Sustainability
Aligned with its strategic objectives for sustainable development, ENOC Group has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship by participating in "Earth Hour 2024: The Biggest Hour for Earth". This initiative saw the group turning off non-essential lighting across its headquarters and operational facilities on March 23rd, from 8.30PM to 9.30PM, in a bid to encourage global and local action against climate change. The move included dimming lights at service station forecourts, convenience stores, and other areas, joining millions in the UAE and worldwide in this symbolic gesture.
Group CEO of ENOC, Saif Humaid Al Falasi, emphasized the organization's dedication to sustainable development and energy conservation. He stated, "ENOC Group is committed to promoting sustainable development initiatives to drive positive change towards the preservation of our environment and the planet. We are dedicated to raising awareness on the importance of optimising energy consumption and will continue to encourage our staff as well as the wider community to minimise environmental impact and practice energy conservation."

The participation in Earth Hour 2024 is part of ENOC’s broader strategy focused on environmental, energy, and resource management. This year, the group reported significant savings of 408 MWh of electricity during the hour, equivalent to reducing CO2 emissions by 1,944 kg. These efforts are a testament to ENOC’s ongoing commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainability within the community.
Over the past decade, from 2014 to 2023, ENOC has made considerable strides in enhancing its sustainability measures. The group has successfully reduced its specific energy consumption by 23 percent, from 0.67 GJ/ton to 0.516 GJ/ton. Additionally, water recycling rates have seen a remarkable increase from 2 percent to nearly 25 percent. These achievements have been made possible through various initiatives, including waste heat recovery projects in refineries, propane sphere projects at the MTBE facility, solar PV implementation at service stations, rooftop solar installations, and numerous energy and water conservation and optimisation projects.
ENOC’s efforts reflect a comprehensive approach towards environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. By actively participating in global initiatives like Earth Hour and implementing effective resource management practices, ENOC sets a positive example for corporations worldwide. The group’s actions underscore the importance of collective efforts in addressing climate change and highlight the role of corporate responsibility in fostering a sustainable future.
