Emirati Women's Forum Celebrates Inspiring Role Models In Leadership And Diplomacy

The Emirati Women’s Forum recently gathered officials, experts, entrepreneurs, and youth to honour women's achievements in various sectors. The event highlighted success stories and role models, aligning with the UAE leadership's vision of empowering women as vital contributors to national progress and global representation.

Amna Fikri, UAE Ambassador to Finland and Estonia, spoke about the pioneering role of Emirati women diplomats. She credited the UAE leadership for their support in enabling these achievements. Fikri shared her journey into diplomacy, inspired by early interest in international relations and mentorship from H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Emirati Women's Forum Showcases Role Models

In a session on women's impact in government, Hessa Buhumaid and Aisha Miran discussed women's growing leadership roles. Buhumaid emphasised Emirati women's contributions over 50 years in education and community development. Miran noted that their participation sets a regional example, supported by initiatives from H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Khaled Al Nuaimi highlighted the strategic importance of empowering young women in nation-building. He noted that women make up over 73% of local youth council members and 48% of participants in the Emirates Youth Global Initiative. This involvement is crucial for sustainable development across sectors like economy, diplomacy, and innovation.

Shayma Alawadhi discussed women's role in advancing the private sector and Emiratisation. She noted that women under 35 account for more than 70% of Emirati employees in this sector. Their contributions are significant in fields like AI, renewable energy, and the digital economy.

Alawadhi stressed initiatives like the Nafis programme that empower women through supportive workplace policies and continuous professional development. This reflects the UAE leadership's commitment to making both men and women equal contributors to national progress.

Entrepreneurship and Leadership

Souad Jamal AlSerkal shared her entrepreneurial journey at the forum, highlighting perseverance and self-belief as keys to success. She encouraged young women to embrace challenges as steps toward realising their dreams.

The forum also showcased achievements of young Emirati women like Aysha Al Obeidli, the youngest Emirati chef, who urged youth to pursue their dreams with determination. Ghaya Al Ahbabi, UNICEF ambassador for COP28, spoke about her dedication to sustainability and environmental advocacy.

Commitment to Gender Balance

Amna Al Suwaidi highlighted Dubai’s commitment to empowering women as key partners in development. Initiatives supporting work-life balance, continuous training, mentorship, and gender-balanced leadership were emphasised as central to driving Dubai’s progress.

The forum marked its 10th anniversary since being announced by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak in 2015. Held at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, it featured ten panel discussions showcasing UAE's advancements in women's empowerment.
