Emirati Field Hospital In Chad Provides Vital Aid To Over 18,850 Patients
In the heart of Amdjarass, Chad, a beacon of hope shines for Sudanese refugees and local Chadians alike. The Emirati field hospital, inaugurated on 9th July 2022, has become a cornerstone for medical care in the region. With over 18,854 patients treated since its opening, the hospital has been a critical support system for children, the elderly, and adults from both communities, handling around 80 patients daily.
The establishment of this medical facility was directed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and is a collaborative effort between three UAE humanitarian organisations: the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation (ZHF), and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. This initiative is in coordination with UAE's Aid Coordination Office, aiming to provide relief and medical support to those affected by the crisis in Sudan and assist Chad with the humanitarian impact of the refugee influx.

The hospital's medical team has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, successfully performing over 389 surgeries ranging from minor to major operations. This achievement underscores the UAE's commitment to providing comprehensive, quality healthcare services to those in need.
Jassim Al Naqbi, Representative of the Emirates Red Crescent in the UAE humanitarian team, highlighted the importance of their recent field visit to the hospital. This visit aimed to assess patient care and review the hospital's operations and future needs. Al Naqbi emphasized the ongoing efforts to ensure high-quality services are available to all patients and noted the recent increase in hospital capacity from 50 to 70 beds, with provisions to expand to 100 beds if necessary.
The gratitude expressed by patients towards the UAE for its unwavering support reflects the significant impact of this initiative. The hospital's timely establishment has been particularly beneficial for Sudanese refugees seeking refuge and medical care.
The field hospital is staffed by an integrated team of highly professional doctors, pharmacists, nurses, and technicians. They offer round-the-clock services across all specialties, utilizing modern medical devices, equipment, and medicines. This ensures that every visitor receives the best possible care.
Designed to cater to various medical needs, the hospital features three main zones: the red emergency zone for critical cases, the yellow zone for moderate cases, and the green zone for daily care cases. This structured approach allows for efficient patient management and high-quality care delivery.
The Emirati field hospital in Amdjarass stands as a testament to the UAE's commitment to humanitarian aid and medical support across borders. Its continued operation not only aids those directly affected by conflict but also strengthens healthcare provision within Chad's local communities.
