Emirati Designers Showcase Unique Handcrafted Jewellery At Watch And Jewellery Middle East Show
At the 55th Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show, twenty Emirati female designers showcased their handcrafted gold and diamond jewellery. This event, held at Expo Centre Sharjah, concludes tomorrow. The "Emirati Goldsmiths" platform, initiated by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), aims to empower local designers and connect them with over 500 exhibitors from around the world.
The platform welcomed new designers from across the UAE this year. Each designer presented collections inspired by the country's rich cultural heritage and natural environment. Many designs featured traditional "Talli" handicrafts in modern forms, blending heritage with contemporary artistry. Notable creations included the "Zayed Lantern," "Palm Necklace," "Well" design, and "Emirati Dama’a," all praised for their originality and craftsmanship.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah, emphasised the Chamber's commitment to supporting young Emirati talents in the national economy, especially in the gold and jewellery sector. He noted that the "Emirati Goldsmiths" platform has become a strategic hub for nurturing female designers, with about 400 members from all emirates now part of this initiative.
Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, highlighted the event's status as a leading destination for the jewellery and watch industry. He praised the remarkable participation of Emirati women this year, noting their artistic excellence and high calibre contributions. Mona Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the SCCI Chairman and head of the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform, expressed pride in returning participants' progress.
She explained that many have grown into key exhibitors and successfully launched brands that hold strong positions in the local market. This success demonstrates the platform’s positive impact on long-term professional development.
Innovative Designs Inspired by Heritage
Mohra Al Muhairbi, founder of Noul Jewellery, made her debut at the show with unique pieces blending traditional Emirati heritage with modern flair. Her creations included "Zayed Lamp" and "Emirati Dama’a," featuring "Talli" motifs crafted in gold adorned with precious stones.
Sawsan Al Jaberi from Abu Dhabi drew inspiration from a water well image to symbolise strength, depth, and hope. These values were reflected in her elegant jewellery crafted from 18-karat gold with carefully selected gemstones.
Mira Youssef Al-Muhairi, the youngest designer on the Emirati Goldsmiths Platform, presented a gold piece shaped like a palm tree. Her inspiration came from a visit to Khalid Lagoon in Sharjah where palm tree reflections sparked her idea for a modern design capturing Emirati landscape beauty.
This showcase highlights how Emirati female designers are making significant strides in jewellery design by blending tradition with innovation. Their contributions not only enrich cultural heritage but also strengthen their presence in both local and international markets.
