Emirati-Chinese Friendship Festival Highlights UAE Heritage Through Al Ghadeer Crafts In Beijing
The Al Ghadeer UAE Crafts Foundation recently took part in the Emirati-Chinese Friendship Festival in Beijing. This event marked the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the United Arab Emirates and China. Organised by the UAE Embassy, it provided a platform to display authentic Emirati heritage through handcrafted items.
Al Ghadeer's participation highlighted the UAE's dedication to cultural exchange with China. The exhibition allowed visitors to experience a rich collection of Emirati handicrafts that blend traditional authenticity with modern elements. This initiative underscores the importance of cultural communication between nations.

The festival featured various traditional crafts, such as Sadu weaving, Talli embroidery, and Khoos palm frond weaving. These crafts have been passed down through generations, showcasing the UAE's rich craft legacy and its innovative spirit. The display emphasised both tradition and resilience in Emirati craftsmanship.
Attendees in China responded positively to Al Ghadeer's products. They appreciated the unique balance between originality and modernity in these designs. Such cultural exchanges are seen as vital for strengthening friendships and fostering mutual understanding between different cultures.
Established in 2006 under H.H. Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan's patronage, Al Ghadeer UAE Crafts is a non-profit initiative. It aims to empower women while promoting economic sustainability by preserving and developing traditional Emirati crafts within local communities.
This project is recognised as one of the most comprehensive women's empowerment initiatives in the UAE. It has successfully trained over 340 craftswomen, significantly contributing to preserving cultural heritage while enhancing economic independence among participants.
The foundation's efforts not only preserve traditional crafts but also provide economic opportunities for women, ensuring these skills continue to thrive in modern times. By participating in international events like this festival, Al Ghadeer helps build bridges between cultures through shared appreciation of art and tradition.
