Emirates Restores Daily Flights Between Adelaide And Dubai, Boosting Tourism And Trade
Emirates has resumed its daily flights between Adelaide and Dubai, using a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. This service provides over 4,200 seats weekly between the two cities. The aircraft features 302 seats, with 38 in Business Class and 264 in Economy Class. This move is expected to accommodate more than 220,400 passengers annually, highlighting Emirates' dedication to South Australia and meeting the rising travel demand.
South Australia's economy and tourism are set to benefit significantly from Emirates' return. According to the South Australian Tourism Commission, the daily direct flights are projected to generate over $62 million annually in tourism spending. Additionally, this service is anticipated to create more than 315 full-time equivalent jobs related to tourism for local residents.

Emirates SkyCargo will enhance trade connections between South Australia and global markets, including the Middle East, Europe, and the USA. Each flight offers 14 tonnes of cargo capacity, amounting to 196 tonnes weekly. Key exports include seafood, meat products, fruits and vegetables, pharmaceuticals, machinery parts, retail garments, and electronics. The freight export value is estimated at $98 million yearly.
The total economic impact of Emirates' flights to Adelaide is projected at $160 million annually. This includes both tourism expenditure and freight exports. The reinstatement of this service underscores Emirates' commitment to supporting South Australia's economic growth through increased trade and tourism opportunities.
South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas expressed enthusiasm about the service's return: "The return of Emirates' daily service to Adelaide is significant for South Australia. We're not just welcoming back a world-class airline; we're re-opening South Australia's doors to the world." He noted that this reconnection would boost the economy by creating jobs and expanding trade and tourism prospects.
Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison highlighted the appeal of South Australia as a destination: "Last night we welcomed the first of the more than 220,000 Emirates passengers that are set to touch down in South Australia each year thanks to the daily return of this major international airline." She emphasised that Emirates' presence enhances connections with over 140 destinations worldwide.
Commitment to Australian Market
Nabil Sultan, Emirates' Executive Vice President for Passenger Sales and Country Management stated: "Australia remains a priority market for Emirates and one that we have been deeply committed to for nearly three decades." He affirmed that resuming Adelaide services strengthens their Australian network with 70 weekly flights across five cities.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox remarked on customer benefits: "Our customers will once again benefit from Emirates' extensive global network." He noted that this service would attract international visitors while supporting local producers through export opportunities.
Expanding Flight Services
Emirates now operates 70 weekly services from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. These flights connect passengers with over 140 destinations globally. On December 1st, Emirates will resume its second daily service to Perth. This expansion will allow them to transport up to 68,000 passengers weekly from Australia.
This reinstatement marks a return to pre-pandemic capacity levels for Emirates in Australia. It reflects their ongoing commitment to providing extensive travel options for passengers while supporting economic growth in regions like South Australia through enhanced connectivity.
