Emirates Red Crescent Final Phase Housing Project For Flood-affected Families In Pahang, Malaysia
The Emirates Red Crescent has started the final stage of a housing initiative for families impacted by floods in the Malaysian state of Pahang, completing a multi-year programme that rebuilds damaged homes and supports social stability, as part of the United Arab Emirates’ wider humanitarian and development work in disaster-affected communities worldwide.
The scheme follows directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with direct oversight from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, reflecting a long-standing UAE policy to assist vulnerable populations and back community resilience.
The housing project delivers fully constructed and furnished homes for flood-affected families across seven districts in Pahang, at a total cost of AED11.2 million. Work has reached 100 percent completion, with housing built according to safety requirements and quality-of-life standards, aiming to provide secure accommodation and reduce displacement risks for people who lost their homes in earlier flooding.

Emirates Red Crescent housing project within UAE–Malaysia relations
The Sultan of Pahang expressed appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for ongoing UAE assistance to the state of Pahang in multiple fields, noting that the UAE has often been among the first to respond to humanitarian needs worldwide under the President’s leadership, including recovery efforts after the floods that damaged homes in the state.
The Sultan also recognised the work of the Emirates Red Crescent in humanitarian and development activities under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, pointing to the organisation’s role in delivering projects that address essential needs such as housing and community services.
Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Dhaheri stated that relations between the UAE and Malaysia are strategic and distinctive, especially after the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement took effect in October 2025, and explained that Pahang occupies a special place within this relationship due to the close ties between President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Al Mazrouei underlined that the Emirates Red Crescent remains committed to long-term humanitarian and development programmes, and to working with national and international partners to improve living standards in affected areas, stressing that such initiatives, including the Pahang housing project, are consistent with the UAE’s values of solidarity, cooperation and support for communities facing crises.
