Emirates Nature–WWF Launches Sprint For Change To Inspire Community Environmental Action
Emirates Nature–WWF has unveiled "Sprint for Change," a summer initiative aimed at promoting environmental action in the UAE. This series is part of the Leaders of Change programme, encouraging individuals, families, and professionals to engage in meaningful environmental activities. The initiative includes online workshops, field visits, and community challenges to address climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss.
Participants will delve into the triple planetary crisis by exploring climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss. They will learn practical ways to implement change in their daily lives. The programme offers both online and in-person activities, making conservation efforts accessible and engaging for everyone involved.

"Real impact starts with people," stated Arabella Willing, Head of Conservation Outreach and Citizen Science at Emirates Nature-WWF. She emphasised that Sprint for Change serves as a gateway to environmental action for those new to sustainability or inspired by the Year of Community. This year introduces new experiences like an in-person Herbarium workshop and independent citizen science projects.
The Leaders of Change programme has organised its third summer series with Sprint for Change. It aims to transform participants from passive observers into active environmental leaders. Participants can also enjoy exclusive online premieres of "Conservation Diaries," a mini-documentary series showcasing local conservation efforts through stunning nature footage.
The documentary screenings are followed by live Q&A sessions with filmmakers and experts, providing deeper insights into conservation stories. Participants gain practical skills such as monitoring native saplings and conducting waste audits, preparing them for future Leaders of Change seasons where they collaborate with experts on field projects.
This year's summer series highlights hands-on components that build on last year's success with Nature’s Resilience. Over 1,000 participants learned about native species' adaptation to the UAE environment. The new series continues this momentum by offering exciting opportunities for participants to engage directly with nature.
Community Involvement and Impact
A notable addition this year is the Leaders of Change Community Advisory Committee. This platform allows active members to influence the programme's development. Members contributing over 24 hours towards nature can join the committee, fostering a community capable of creating lasting impacts on sustainability journeys.
"Together, this community has the power to create ripples of lasting impact — inspiring more people to begin their sustainability journey or take it to the next level," added Willing. The initiative aims to inspire more individuals to embark on or enhance their sustainability efforts through collective action.
