ECAE Hosts Third Edition Of Universities Collaboration Forum To Enhance Early Childhood Development In Abu Dhabi
The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) recently hosted the third edition of the Universities Collaboration Forum. This initiative, led by the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA), gathered 11 prominent universities and academic institutions from across the UAE. The forum's primary aim was to foster dialogue and collaboration to enhance the Early Childhood Development (ECD) sector in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. May Laith Al Taee, Vice Chancellor of ECAE, highlighted the importance of academic institutions in empowering and enhancing the skills of the ECD workforce. She stated, "Early childhood professionals play a critical role in realising our leadership’s vision for creating inclusive and holistic environments that support the healthy and integrated growth of children in our communities."

ECAE demonstrated its commitment to innovation in ECD by presenting research-driven practices. Faculty members showcased initiatives like the "Interactive Play Lab" and "Conceptual PlayWorld in Action." A panel discussion titled "Transforming the Early Childhood Workplace" shared insights from an ECA-funded research project aimed at improving ECD work environments and promoting game-based learning strategies.
Dr. Hessa Al Kaabi, Executive Director of Special Projects and Partnerships Sector at ECA, emphasised their dedication to advancing early childhood development in Abu Dhabi. She said, "As part of our commitment to advancing the early childhood development sector in Abu Dhabi, we collaborate with partners across sectors, particularly higher education and research institutions, to generate evidence-based studies that enhance the capabilities of ECD professionals and promote child sustainable development."
The forum encouraged joint initiatives between ECA and universities to develop curricula aligned with ECA standards. It also aimed to create an inclusive, high-quality ECD system through partnerships with higher education institutions. The use of research and data was promoted to inform evidence-based policy-making, strengthen professional development pathways, and build skills within the ECD workforce.
Academic success stories were highlighted during the event. Al Ain University has developed new offerings in early childhood education, while United Arab Emirates University introduced an elective course on ECD within its general education program for students from various disciplines.
Collaborative Efforts for Sustainable Development
The forum featured several projects by ECA aimed at improving early childhood outcomes in Abu Dhabi. Strong participation from academic institutions, education experts, researchers, and policymakers underscored the value of aligning government policy with research efforts.
This collaboration among ECAE, ECA, and academic partners underscores a shared commitment to creating a sustainable educational environment for future generations in Abu Dhabi. By integrating theory with practice through research-driven initiatives, these efforts aim to positively impact children's lives while enhancing professional capacity within the sector.
