Egypt Expresses Readiness To Host International Conference On Gaza Recovery And Reconstruction Efforts
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stressed the urgent need to halt Israeli actions against Palestinians. He discussed this with Christophe Bigot, the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's firm stance against displacing Palestinians from their homeland.
Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's collaborative efforts with Qatar and the US to secure a ceasefire in Gaza. These efforts also aim to facilitate the exchange of hostages and prisoners and ensure humanitarian aid reaches the strip. The situation in Gaza is dire, with Israel continuing to block aid access.

The Egyptian minister expressed readiness to host an international conference focused on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza once a ceasefire is achieved. This initiative underscores Egypt's commitment to addressing the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Abdelatty highlighted alarming developments in the West Bank, cautioning about the consequences of ongoing Israeli military operations there. He called for an end to repeated attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinians, emphasising their detrimental impact on regional stability.
The minister also looked forward to hosting an international conference on peacefully resolving the Palestinian issue. This event, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, aims to implement a two-state solution as a pathway to lasting peace.
International Recognition and Two-State Solution
Abdelatty underscored the importance of broadening international recognition of Palestine. He advocated for establishing a Palestinian state based on June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He believes this approach is crucial for achieving sustainable peace, security, and stability in the region.
