EDGE Secures Record AED 9 Billion Naval Contract With Kuwait Ministry Of Defence For FALAJ3 Missile Boats
EDGE, a prominent player in advanced technology and defence, has secured a significant AED9 billion (US$2.45 billion) contract with Kuwait's Ministry of Defence. This agreement involves supplying FALAJ3 62-metre missile boats. Notably, this deal is the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and ranks among the top global naval export agreements.
As the main contractor, EDGE will oversee the entire programme, which encompasses designing, constructing, testing, and delivering these vessels. Additionally, they will provide Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and In-Service Support (ISS). EDGE's comprehensive capabilities are further highlighted by their provision of ammunition for these ships.

The UAE's leading shipbuilder, Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), part of EDGE Group, has been chosen as the subcontractor for construction. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, stated: "This agreement with Kuwait is hugely significant both in scale and strategic importance. It deepens long-term defence ties between our nations, brings a proven class of advanced vessels into regional service, and reinforces EDGE’s position as a trusted international partner."
The FALAJ 3-class missile boat is also set to join the UAE Navy's fleet. The first vessel named ALTAF will be officially commissioned in February 2025. This deployment underscores the vessel's effectiveness and reliability in regional waters.
These state-of-the-art 62-metre vessels are customised to meet Kuwait's specific operational needs. They offer high performance with advanced combat systems designed for littoral defence operations. The latest contract highlights EDGE’s reputation as a reliable partner for comprehensive defence solutions and long-term support.
This agreement not only strengthens EDGE’s standing as a trusted partner but also aligns with the UAE's strategic goals for defence exports and industrial cooperation. It signifies global confidence in EDGE’s ability to deliver complex naval platforms on a large scale.
EDGE's rapid industrial and engineering advancements have enabled them to design and build sophisticated naval platforms efficiently. As they embark on a new phase focused on export-led growth, this programme serves as clear evidence of their capabilities on an international stage.
