ECA's Parent-Friendly Label Programme Achieves 57% Increase In Benefiting Parents Across UAE
The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority (ECA) has seen a surge in interest for its Parent-friendly Label (PFL) programme, with 83 organisations applying in its third cycle. This initiative is gaining traction among UAE-based entities, including prominent global firms. It invites semi-governmental, private, and third-sector organisations to showcase their dedication to fostering a supportive work environment for parents and children aged 0-8 years.
In this cycle, the programme's influence has expanded significantly. Policies and practices now benefit 163,000 employees across applicant organisations. This growth includes a 57% rise in benefiting parents, a 25% increase in young children under eight years old, and a 51% increase in children of determination experiencing supportive workplace cultures.

Following the success of the second cycle, which attracted diverse industry participation, the programme has further extended its reach. Professional services organisations submitted the most applications, followed by the education sector, particularly nurseries. The energy and utilities sector and healthcare and pharma industries also showed strong interest.
Each application will be meticulously evaluated against 19 criteria spread over five categories: parental leave, flexible work arrangements, family care support, family wellbeing initiatives, and organisational culture. An independent panel of experts from across the UAE will conduct an impartial assessment to ensure fairness and objectivity.
Organisations that meet or exceed local leading parent-friendly policies will receive Level 1 classification (PFL). Those meeting or surpassing global standards will earn Level 2 classification (PFL+). This structured evaluation ensures that only those with exemplary practices are recognised.
The PFL programme's growing popularity highlights a shift towards more inclusive work environments in the UAE. By encouraging organisations to adopt parent-friendly policies, it not only benefits employees but also positively impacts children and the wider community.
