Dubai International Airport Sets New Record With 23 Million Passengers In Q1 2024
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has reported its busiest quarter in history, with 23 million passengers passing through its terminals in the first quarter of the year. This marks an 8.4% increase compared to the same period last year, according to a statement released by Dubai Airports on Tuesday.
The total passenger traffic for the quarter reached 23,052,060, with January recording the highest traffic at 7.9 million. Paul Griffiths, CEO of DXB, noted the robust growth trajectory, attributing it to the expansion of cities added to their network by Emirates and flydubai.

"As Dubai emerges as a global leader in attracting talent, businesses, and tourists from across the globe, our focus remains on sustaining growth momentum and enhancing the overall airport experience for every guest passing through our terminals," Griffiths said.
With a strong start to Q2 and an optimistic outlook for the rest of the year, DXB has revised its forecast for the year to 91 million guests. This surpasses their previous annual traffic record of 89.1 million set in 2018.
DXB connects to 256 destinations across 102 countries through 90 international carriers, reinforcing Dubai's position as a global business and logistics hub. India remained DXB's top destination country, with passenger traffic reaching 3.1 million guests.
Following India, Saudi Arabia recorded 2 million passengers, the UK had 1.5 million, and Pakistan saw 1.1 million guests. The top cities by passenger numbers included London with 961,000 guests, Riyadh with 795,000, Jeddah with 669,000, and Mumbai with 637,000 guests.
The first quarter also saw a total of 109,238 flight movements at DXB, marking an 8.3% year-on-year increase. Load factors reached 79.1% in Q1. Additionally, DXB managed 26.8 million bags during this period.
As Dubai continues to attract more visitors and businesses globally, DXB's performance in Q1 sets a promising tone for the rest of the year.
