Dubai Science Park Hosts Forum To Strengthen Health Literacy Across Healthcare Industry
Healthcare leaders gathered at Dubai Science Park (DSP) to discuss enhancing health literacy as a means to combat misinformation and improve public health. This meeting, part of Health Literacy Month in October, was organised by the DSP Leadership Network. The forum, titled "Health Literacy in Action – From Patients to Policy," focused on improving health communication and building trust within communities.
The event featured insights from Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, Senior Vice-President of Dubai Science Park, who emphasised the role of health literacy in creating a sustainable future. He stated, "Health literacy is the key to empowering individuals to make informed decisions and can directly benefit social well-being." The forum aligns with initiatives like the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and We the UAE 2031 vision.

Panelists discussed how clear communication can enhance preventive care and ensure healthcare equity. They highlighted the growing influence of digital platforms, stressing the importance of verifying online information and adapting content for local audiences. Collaboration among healthcare professionals is crucial for delivering consistent, research-based messages that strengthen community ties.
A panel discussion included Dr Shanila Laiju from Medcare Hospitals, Farah Hillou from M42, Passant El-Khatib formerly with Bayer and others, Yasmin Mitwally from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society UAE, and moderator Rachel McArthur from Digital Ink Media. They explored strategies for effective health education and awareness programmes.
A mental health workshop on workplace wellness was conducted by Mentra before World Mental Health Day on 10th October. Dr Adenike (Omo) Dairo, Founder of Mentra, highlighted that mental health is fundamental to overall well-being and cannot be separated from physical health.

It hosts over 500 companies such as AstraZeneca and Pfizer, employing more than 6,500 professionals.
