Dubai Police Strategic Dialogue On Future Of Civil Aviation Security At Al Maktoum International Airport

Dubai Police officials and strategic partners recently gathered to discuss the future of civil aviation security at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). This airport is set to become the largest globally, with a projected capacity of 260 million passengers. The meeting was organised by the General Department of Airport Security, in collaboration with the Future Foresight Centre and the Corporate Development Office for Ports Affairs.

The session, titled "Envisioning the Future of Al Maktoum International Airport – The Largest Airport in the World", focused on three major themes: strategic infrastructure planning, analysis of future trends, and the integration of smart technologies. Brigadier Hamouda Belsuwaida Al Amri, Director of the General Department of Airport Security, emphasised its importance in his opening remarks.

Future of Civil Aviation Security Discussed by Dubai Police

Al Amri highlighted that airports serve as global hubs and are crucial for promoting safety and security. This fosters cultural, intellectual, and economic exchange. He stressed adapting to rapid technological advancements and implementing sustainable solutions to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience.

The discussion aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He recently approved designs for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International. Construction will start immediately with a cost of AED128 billion. The airport will be five times larger than Dubai International Airport (DXB), with plans to relocate all operations there over time.

Colonel Dr. Hamdan Al Ghassia, Director of the Future Foresight Centre at Dubai Police, underscored the panel's significance. He noted it offered an opportunity to generate ideas addressing future challenges and ambitions for Al Maktoum International Airport. The aim is to present forward-thinking initiatives that contribute to long-term improvements in civil aviation security.

Al Amri expressed hopes for a productive discussion where participants could offer ideas and raise questions contributing to shaping a better future for civil aviation security. The session’s objectives focus on strategic infrastructure planning, analysis of future trends, and smart technologies.

Commitment to Security

Brigadier Al Amri explained that sharing insights would shape civil aviation security's future. The goal is to address challenges collectively, embrace rapid developments, and forecast future events based on data analysis. "We stand together to face all challenges," he said, "ensuring continuity of our operations."

"With dedication from our skilled workforce," he added, "and commitment to investing in them, we are confident in securing a bright future." Integrating smart systems and strengthening infrastructure will play critical roles in securing airports.

The meeting was held at THUKHER Club under directives from Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. It aimed at fostering collaboration among stakeholders involved in ensuring airport security as DWC expands its capacity significantly.
