200 Emiratis Empowered With App Development Skills In Dubai's 2024 Initiative

The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has reported significant achievements in the first quarter of 2024. During this period, the chamber trained 200 Emiratis through the 'Create Apps in Dubai' initiative. This programme, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aims to enhance digital capabilities in the UAE.

The 'Create Apps in Dubai' initiative targets training 1,000 Emiratis in collaboration with the private sector. It aims to triple the number of app developers in Dubai by 2025 and support 100 new national projects for advanced mobile applications. The programme focuses on creating a robust digital infrastructure and establishing a legislative framework to support application development.

Dubai Empowers 200 in App Dev

As part of the 'Create Apps in Dubai' programme, a training session was organised in cooperation with Talabat. This session aimed to enhance participants' digital knowledge and equip them with the technical expertise required to develop their ideas and applications. The initiative is aligned with the chamber's strategic objectives to capitalise on emerging growth opportunities in the sector.

In the first three months of 2024, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy supported 45 high-potential digital startups to establish and grow their businesses in Dubai. Additionally, the chamber signed four MoUs with partners to provide services and solutions designed to support tech and digital companies planning to set up and scale up in Dubai.

Strategic Vision

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, stated, "Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate is continuing to strengthen its advanced digital ecosystem." He emphasised the commitment to building world-class technological infrastructure and attracting digital companies to support their growth.

The efforts are part of achieving the ambitions of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which seeks to generate an annual contribution of AED100 billion to Dubai’s economy from digital transformation projects. The chamber's initiatives are crucial for enhancing competitiveness and attractiveness for global businesses and investors.
