Dubai is preparing to host the second Japan Trade Exhibition at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The event, starting on Monday, will feature over 100 companies and brands. Organised by Maico Enterprise, the exhibition aims to boost trade volumes and foreign direct investment between the UAE and Japan. This aligns with Japanese companies' growing interest in expanding their presence in the UAE and beyond.
The exhibition will run from February 10-12, 2025, showcasing a wide array of Japanese companies from various sectors. These include technology, artificial intelligence, aerospace, food industries, engineering, sustainability, tourism, healthcare, arts, and crafts. The event seeks to explore trade and investment opportunities in the UAE and the region by leveraging Dubai's strategic position as a global business hub.

According to data from the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the UAE was Japan's largest export market in the Middle East from January to November 2024. During this period, exports totalled $11.3 billion (AED 41.5 billion). The UAE accounted for over 45% of Japan's total trade with the Middle East, which reached $24.7 billion during this time.
Official figures from the UAE’s Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Center ranked Japan as the ninth-largest trading partner of the UAE in early 2024. The total trade volume was AED 45.4 billion during this period. Additionally, Japan was the fifth-largest market for non-oil imports into the UAE.
The exhibition will serve as a comprehensive platform for showcasing Japanese innovations to businesses and investors in the UAE and GCC regions. It offers an exceptional opportunity for attendees to explore trade prospects and connect with industry leaders across multiple sectors in Japan, the UAE, and beyond.
Mai Sakaue, CEO of Maico Enterprise and Chair of the Executive Committee for the exhibition stated: "We are excited about the second edition of the Japan Trade Exhibition to serve as a unique platform...to celebrate Japan’s rich industrial and cultural diversity." She added that approximately 30,000 visitors are expected.
Opportunities for Startups
The 2025 edition has attracted numerous Japanese startups eager to explore investment opportunities in the UAE. These startups benefit from a pro-business environment and extensive support for emerging enterprises in Dubai. They will present their latest innovations through dedicated sessions highlighting advancements in AI, robotics, sustainability, healthcare, and green infrastructure technology.
Sakaue noted that over 100 exhibitors would participate across industries such as technology, robotics, aerospace solutions from Japan’s digital space industry along with food and beverage sectors.
Cultural Exchange
The exhibition also facilitates cultural exchange between Japan and the UAE. It provides an opportunity for attendees to engage with industry leaders while celebrating cultural diversity through various activities throughout its duration.
