Dubai Health And GE HealthCare Collaborate To Enhance Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education Across MENA Region

Dubai Health and GE HealthCare have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) practices and develop AI solutions. This partnership aims to improve clinical decision-making and patient care across the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

The collaboration leverages Dubai Health's academic expertise alongside GE HealthCare's technological capabilities. Together, they aim to advance medical education, strengthen clinical decisions, and improve health outcomes in the UAE and MENA region.

Enhancing Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education in MENA

A key initiative is establishing Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) as a POCUS Education Center of Excellence. This will position MBRU as a leader in Point-of-Care Ultrasound education across the MENA region.

The partnership includes a ‘Train-of-Trainer (TOT)’ program to build capacity among certified facilitators. This program will enhance the scalability of POCUS delivery, allowing wider participation from attendees, students, and delegates.

Additionally, the collaboration extends to co-developing AI solutions through Dubai Health Innovations. These solutions aim to enhance patient care, drive medical advancements, and improve health outcomes.

The focus will be on developing AI technologies in radiology and computer vision. The goal is to improve diagnostic accuracy, streamline workflows, and facilitate early detection of conditions.

Commitment to Healthcare Excellence

Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi stated that this collaboration reflects Dubai Health’s commitment to integrating care, learning, and innovation. "By building capacity in POCUS education and co-developing AI-powered solutions, we are empowering clinicians with next-generation technologies to improve patient outcomes," she said.

Konstantinos Deligiannis from GE HealthCare expressed excitement about partnering with Dubai Health. "This MoU marks a pivotal moment for POCUS advancement in the MENA region," he noted. The partnership aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency while contributing to regional healthcare objectives.

Strengthening Clinical Practice

Dr. Rasha Buhumaid highlighted that this partnership is crucial for positioning MBRU as a Centre of Excellence for POCUS education. The Facilitator Training Programme will strengthen POCUS integration into clinical practice, supporting better outcomes at the point of care.

Professor Nabil Zary emphasized that education is central to sustainable healthcare transformation. "This partnership with GE HealthCare enables us to deliver high-impact training in POCUS that not only equips clinicians with advanced skills but also fosters continuous learning," he remarked.

The MoU between Dubai Health and GE HealthCare will last for two years with an option for renewal by mutual agreement.
