Partnership Between Dubai Health Authority And University Of Birmingham To Enhance Healthcare
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and the University of Birmingham Dubai have formalised a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing the healthcare sector. The MoU was signed by Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of the DHA, and Professor Yusra Mozoughi, Provost of the University of Birmingham Dubai, in the presence of officials and experts.
This agreement represents a significant step in enhancing human resources for health and strategic development initiatives. Fourteen employees have graduated from the university's training programme, aligning with global best practices in health systems and policy development.

The MoU outlines various areas of cooperation, including the development of health policies and strategies. It also focuses on implementing advanced mechanisms for monitoring, evaluating, and measuring the future impact of these policies. The agreement includes provisions for exchanging experiences and knowledge between the two institutions.
Additional areas covered by the memorandum include research and development, training and talent enhancement, and improving investment levels in human competencies. The collaboration extends to organising specialised courses according to the highest standards to meet the needs of DHA employees.
Al Ketbi emphasised DHA's policy of collaboration with local and international health, scientific, and academic institutions. This approach serves Dubai's strategic goals in healthcare and enhances opportunities for achieving high levels of health welfare.
Fatima Abbas, CEO of the Strategy and Corporate Development Sector at DHA, stated that the partnership with the University of Birmingham would significantly support the Authority's efforts. She highlighted that this collaboration would enhance DHA's role and guide its path towards sustainable health.
Educational Impact
Professor Yusra Mouzughi noted that this collaboration aligns with their mission to serve local communities. She expressed enthusiasm about connecting the health workforce to best practices through education and research. This initiative aims to enable active contributions to sector advancements and appraise changes in health systems towards achieving universal health coverage and Sustainable Development Goals.
