Dubai Chambers Engages With North Macedonia To Enhance Trade And Investment Opportunities

Dubai Chambers recently engaged in discussions with Professor Dr. Hristijan Mickoski, the Prime Minister of North Macedonia, to explore trade and investment opportunities. The meeting aimed to strengthen business ties between Dubai and North Macedonia, focusing on enhancing economic partnerships across key sectors. This dialogue took place during an official visit to Skopje by a delegation led by Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers.

The delegation's visit was part of a broader mission to deepen bilateral relations and cooperation. The goal was to boost trade and investment flows while unlocking new business opportunities for both regions. This high-level meeting included senior government officials and chamber representatives from North Macedonia, focusing on strategies to accelerate growth in promising sectors.

Dubai Chambers and North Macedonia Discuss Trade Growth

Professor Dr. Hristijan Mickoski highlighted the significance of the meeting, stating that it opens new avenues for deepening economic ties. He emphasised the potential for partnerships and joint projects in areas such as trade, energy, tourism, agriculture, and technology. The visit builds on momentum from an earlier delegation to Dubai when the Prime Minister visited Dubai Chambers in April.

Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah expressed commitment to advancing international trade cooperation. He stated, "We remain committed to advancing international trade cooperation and building bridges for joint economic activity with partners worldwide, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global business hub." His remarks underscored efforts to explore new trade avenues and promote bilateral investments that drive sustainable growth.

During discussions, Dubai Chambers showcased the emirate’s competitive advantages as a hub for North Macedonian businesses across various sectors. They highlighted attractive opportunities available for Macedonian companies in Dubai. High-potential products identified for export include pharmaceuticals, apparel, bakery products, preserved vegetables, marble and stone, mineral waters, and copper wire.

The non-oil trade between Dubai and North Macedonia reached AED1.8 billion over five years from 2020-2024. The number of North Macedonian companies registered with Dubai Chamber of Commerce grew significantly from nine at the end of 2020 to 56 by mid-2025—a remarkable increase of 522% in under five years.

Growth Corridors Initiative

This visit is part of a series of international trade missions organised by Dubai Chambers under the ‘Growth Corridors’ initiative. This initiative aims to deepen economic cooperation between Dubai and high-potential global markets by opening channels for dialogue and collaboration. It seeks to strengthen bilateral business relations through strategic partnerships and joint ventures.

The initiative reflects Dubai’s proactive response to evolving global economic dynamics. It empowers companies based in Dubai to expand into new markets with confidence and efficiency by adapting to legislative frameworks and investment incentives.

Macedonian companies operating in Dubai are active in sectors like Real Estate, Renting & Business Services, Trading & Services, Social & Personal Services, Construction, and Education. These sectors represent key areas where Macedonian businesses have established a presence in the emirate.

This engagement underscores ongoing efforts by both regions to foster economic collaboration. By leveraging each other's strengths, they aim to create mutually beneficial opportunities that contribute to sustainable growth.
