Dubai Chambers Promotes Joint Economic Partnerships At Uganda-UAE Business Forum

Dubai Chambers has urged stronger trade and investment ties between Dubai and Uganda. This call was made during the third Uganda-UAE Business Forum. The event highlighted Dubai's role as a key commercial hub for Ugandan businesses aiming to expand globally. It showcased the emirate’s competitive advantages, attracting companies and investors from Uganda.

The forum took place in Dubai, featuring prominent figures like Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, Uganda's Prime Minister, Majid Hamad Rahmah Alshamsi from Dubai Chamber of Commerce, and Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah of Dubai Chambers. Organised by Uganda's Embassy in the UAE with support from Dubai Chambers, it focused on 'Unlocking New Horizons: UAE-Uganda Partnership for Economic Prosperity.' Key officials and business leaders attended.

Uganda's Prime Minister acknowledged the strong friendship between Uganda and the UAE. She stated, "I would like to recognise the strong bonds of friendship that exist between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates. Our relationship has been built on a foundation of mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to peace and prosperity. Looking to the future, I am confident that our partnership will continue to flourish."

She further noted that the UAE is a leading export destination for Uganda in the Middle East. The UAE is also a major source of Foreign Direct Investment in Uganda, with investments worth US$3 billion in sectors such as energy, healthcare, and real estate.

Majid Alshamsi highlighted the economic ties between Dubai and Uganda. He pointed out growth opportunities in various sectors due to increased collaboration between their business communities. The forum serves as a platform to explore bilateral business opportunities contributing to both markets' development goals.

Alshamsi stated, "In line with our commitment to developing economic relations globally and contributing to enhancing cooperation between companies operating in Dubai and Uganda, Dubai International Chamber will organise a trade mission to Uganda next month. The chamber will lead a delegation of private sector companies from Dubai operating across diverse sectors to explore mutually beneficial business opportunities and help them expand into the lucrative Ugandan market."

Dubai’s Strategic Importance

Mohammad Lootah discussed Dubai's strategic role in international trade and investments. He emphasised its competitive business ecosystem offering excellent opportunities for Ugandan investors and companies.

Lootah identified promising sectors for cooperation between both markets. These include logistics, food industries, medical equipment, construction materials, mining, infrastructure projects, real estate, IT, and retail.

The forum underscored the potential for enhanced economic partnerships between Dubai and Uganda. By fostering collaboration across various sectors, both regions can achieve shared developmental goals while expanding their global reach.
