Dubai Chamber Of Commerce Hosts 166 Bilateral Business Meetings In Kuala Lumpur To Boost Trade Relations
Dubai Chamber of Commerce recently facilitated 166 business meetings between Dubai and Malaysian companies in Kuala Lumpur. This initiative was part of the "New Horizons" programme, which aims to help Dubai-based businesses explore opportunities in promising international markets. The trade mission included representatives from 20 diverse sectors such as ICT, food and beverages, healthcare, and construction.
The chamber's trade mission to Malaysia is a strategic move to enhance trade and investment ties with high-potential global markets. Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, stated that this mission is crucial for opening new avenues for local companies to expand internationally. He emphasised its role in boosting non-oil trade and reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global business hub.

A key event during the mission was a business forum titled "Doing Business with Malaysia," organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. Supported by the UAE Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, and Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry, the forum attracted 240 participants. These included senior officials, business leaders, and Malaysian companies.
During the forum, Salem AlShamsi; Dato’ Seri N. Gobalakrishnan, President of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia; and Dr. Sugumari Shanmugam from Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment spoke on enhancing bilateral trade relations. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Dubai Chambers and the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia to strengthen ties between their business communities.
The forum also featured presentations on economic opportunities in both regions. The Dubai Chamber highlighted Dubai's competitive advantages for Malaysian investors seeking new markets. Meanwhile, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority showcased key sectors offering attractive expansion opportunities in Malaysia.
Identifying Export Opportunities
Dubai Chamber identified several products with high export potential from Dubai to Malaysia. These include chemicals, aircraft parts, turbo-jets, plastics, copper, iron, nickel, coffee, tea, and dairy products. Additionally, investment opportunities for Dubai-based companies in Malaysia span transport and warehousing, real estate, tourism, plastics manufacturing, business services, and healthcare.
The trade mission underscores Dubai's commitment to fostering international partnerships that drive economic growth beyond oil-related industries. By facilitating these connections with Malaysian businesses across various sectors, Dubai strengthens its position as a pivotal player in global commerce.
