Digital Readiness Retreat Explores Future Government Models And Digital Integration In The UAE

The UAE Government's Digital Readiness Retreat recently gathered 1,000 leaders and senior officials from various sectors to discuss digital governance trends. The event focused on enhancing government readiness in the digital age by exploring community-focused technologies and integrated solutions.

During the retreat, the UAE Government Digital Transformation Report's second edition was unveiled. This report highlighted achievements in key sectors such as economy, finance, health, education, and more. The event also launched the Digital Transformation Leadership Programme by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA).

The retreat aimed to foster digital integration across federal entities, private sectors, and tech providers. It showcased pioneering UAE government digital solutions while addressing global trends and technologies. New concepts for impactful digital governance were introduced to enhance competitiveness.

Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and the Future, emphasised that global leadership now relies on innovation and rapid tech adoption. She noted that the UAE completed 173.7 million digital transactions in 2024 with a 91% satisfaction rate.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti stressed cybersecurity's role in sustainable digital transformation. He highlighted strategic partnerships' importance to address cybersecurity challenges and develop innovative solutions aligned with future ambitions.

Lt. Gen. Suhail Al Khaili described the retreat as a platform for exchanging best practices in digital transformation. He shared that over 7 million transactions are completed daily due to integration with more than 292 public and private sector entities.

Leadership Insights and Future Vision

Masood M. Sharif Mahmood stated that traditional infrastructure is insufficient; innovation is needed to keep pace with digital complexity. Khalid Murshed highlighted AI-ready infrastructure's necessity in vital sectors like health and education.

The retreat featured panels discussing user-centric digital transformation led by leaders from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. They emphasised collaboration across government entities as key to success amid rapid digital change.

Workshops and Expert Panels

The retreat included interactive sessions with global thought leaders exploring future digital readiness through workshops and expert panels. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti delivered a keynote on proactive cybersecurity's role in creating a safe digital experience.

Suhail Saeed Al Khaili delivered a keynote under "Digital Empowerment and Readiness," highlighting proactive service delivery's role in promoting UAE’s global leadership.

Technological Advancements

Brett King shared insights on AI-driven era challenges during a session titled "The Tech-Driven State." Dean Lacheca identified five tech trends shaping government futures, including AI agent adoption and next-gen encryption.

A panel discussed how private sector innovation fuels government AI readiness featuring Microsoft’s Naim Yazbeck among others who explored strategic partnerships' role in accelerating government transformation.

Concluding Sessions

The retreat concluded with insights from aviation, hospitality, banking industries on maintaining continuous service innovation through technology-enhanced customer experiences aimed at enhancing wellbeing.
