Digital Dubai Hosts 'Digitalising Life' Event To Promote Collaboration For Innovation

Digital Dubai hosted the "Digitalising Life" event on 26-27 February, themed "Collaboration For Innovation." This gathering brought together experts and senior decision-makers from both public and private sectors. The event aimed to tackle challenges in digital transformation, fostering innovative solutions to shape the future. It was a platform for discussing strategies to enhance cooperation between sectors, accelerating the shift towards a data-driven digital economy in Dubai.

The opening speech by Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director General of Digital Dubai, set the tone for the event. He welcomed participants and emphasised the importance of discussions on the agenda. Al Mansoori stated, "Our goal today is to accelerate digital transformation, particularly in Dubai’s strategic sectors, to enhance digital competitiveness and drive innovation, ensuring the emirate remains among the world’s leading cities."

On the first day, attendees were introduced to the Digital Dubai Strategy. This strategy envisions a digitalised life in Dubai with a focus on the digital economy as a key growth pillar. Insights from surveys and studies across various sectors were shared. These insights highlighted plans for digital transformation, budget allocations, cloud adoption trends, and AI integration within private sector companies.

The event's agenda included an overview of Dubai's strategic approach to enabling digital transformation within the private sector. A global perspective was provided by Siim Sikkut, former Chief Information Officer of Estonia. He presented Estonia's pioneering journey in digital transformation. This presentation offered valuable insights into how other nations have successfully navigated similar paths.

Participants were divided into groups focusing on different aspects of digitalisation. One group discussed challenges and opportunities related to digital talent. Another explored infrastructure issues like cloud adoption and its economic benefits. The third group examined digital transformation in services and operations. Meanwhile, government representatives reviewed Dubai’s digital maturity framework.

The second day saw discussions bringing together both sectors to explore data economy significance and strategies for enhancing digital city experiences. Participants also discussed upcoming initiatives aimed at aligning efforts toward comprehensive digitalisation goals.

Commitment to Future Collaboration

The workshop concluded with a decision to establish a joint working group dedicated to developing initiatives, programmes, and projects. This marked a new phase of collaboration with commitments to hold more workshops and forums for aligning visions and accelerating efforts in digital transformation.

Al Mansoori expressed confidence in achieving tangible outcomes due to Dubai's advanced infrastructure supporting cloud computing and innovation. He added that "the private sector will play a key role in accelerating these efforts." He highlighted that discussions revealed strong alignment with shared aspirations between public and private partners.

A significant focus was placed on building real-world applications of AI, data, and digital city solutions for driving innovation in urban life in Dubai. Discussions explored delivering seamless experiences through collaboration with private entities while creating value through data exchange mechanisms.

Panel discussions featured expert panellists examining public-private collaboration's critical role in digitising life for everyone's benefit. Interactive sessions analysed challenges, set priorities, and developed new initiatives aimed at advancing AI as a strategic enabler.

The event underscored Dubai's commitment to becoming a model for future cities by leveraging its advanced infrastructure and fostering partnerships between public and private sectors.
