Diabetes Education Conference In Abu Dhabi Advances Healthcare Professionals' Skills And Knowledge
Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC), part of M42's healthcare network, recently concluded its second Diabetes Education Conference in Abu Dhabi. The event attracted over 300 professionals from nursing, dietetics, pharmacy, diabetes education, and allied health fields. The conference theme was "Personalised Diagnostics and Therapeutics: Where Man Meets Machine – What Comes Next?" and focused on the integration of human expertise with technology to advance diabetes care.
This year's conference built upon the success of the previous one held in 2024, which had 180 attendees under the theme "Where Man Meets Machine." The 2025 edition took place on Saturday, September 6, and delved into how artificial intelligence, machine learning, and personalised medicine are reshaping diabetes care. These advancements empower healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes and enhance lives.

The conference highlighted the essential role of allied health professionals in providing continuous and integrated care for diabetes patients. This event complements ICLDEC's upcoming November Diabetes Conference, which will focus on physicians and researchers. Dr. Mai Ahmed Al Jaber, CEO of ICLDEC, stated: "Through the Diabetes Education Conference, we are reaffirming our commitment to advancing diabetes care across the region by equipping healthcare professionals with the latest advancements in the field and practical skills."
The programme featured engaging workshops and visionary speakers who facilitated learning and collaboration. Topics included innovations in insulin pump technology, continuous glucose monitoring devices, coaching models for behavioural change, career paths for diabetes educators, and advancements in dietetics and physical activity.
Participants examined how artificial intelligence and machine learning are increasingly influencing diabetes management. Data-driven algorithms and tech-enabled solutions were discussed as ways to overcome challenges in diabetes education. Dr. Tomader Ali, Conference Chairman and Diabetes Education Manager at ICLDEC, remarked: "This conference created a unique space where clinical excellence met AI and Algorithm-based intelligent technology."
The event provided a platform for exploring future possibilities in diabetes care through cutting-edge diagnostics, therapeutics, and patient education. It aimed to empower those on the frontlines of patient care—diabetes educators, dieticians, nurses pharmacists—and other allied health professionals.
The strong attendance this year underscores the urgent need for collaborative approaches to tackle diabetes effectively. It also highlights ICLDEC's role in enabling healthcare teams to deliver better outcomes for patients across the UAE and Gulf region. Through education and innovation, ICLDEC aims to improve lives by offering a world-class continuum of integrated care.
