The meeting also addressed joint projects reflecting the UAE's commitment to advancing sustainable solutions and increasing renewable energy use. Al Hashimy praised DEWA’s efforts in transitioning to clean energy, stressing these initiatives' importance in strengthening the UAE’s global sustainability role. The discussions emphasised joint cooperation to accelerate the transition to clean energy worldwide.

Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s contributions to global climate action through innovation, digital transformation, and public-private partnerships. He emphasised DEWA’s role in supporting Dubai's ambitious net zero goals by 2050. Major solar projects like the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park were showcased as part of this effort.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is a flagship project, being the largest single-site solar park globally. It has a commissioned capacity of 2,860MW using advanced photovoltaic (PV) and Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) technologies. An additional 1,800MW is under construction, aiming for clean energy to make up about 27% of Dubai’s total energy production by 2030.

This solar park is expected to reduce over 6.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually upon completion. This significant reduction will contribute greatly to the UAE’s shift towards a sustainable economy. "In line with the vision and directives of our wise leadership, the UAE continues to strengthen its global leadership in sustainability and clean energy," said Al Tayer.

Al Tayer further stated that strategic cooperation between DEWA and Expo City Dubai marks an important step towards achieving ambitious goals like reaching net zero by 2050. "This reaffirms our commitment to addressing climate and environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable solutions," he added.

The discussions underscored DEWA's central role in supporting Dubai's journey towards achieving net zero by showcasing major solar projects such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. This project exemplifies how innovation can drive substantial progress toward sustainability goals.
