Community Development Authority Launches Comprehensive Training Programme For Social Workers In Dubai
The Community Development Authority (CDA) has teamed up with the University of Birmingham to introduce a training programme for social workers in Dubai. This initiative supports the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to improve social services and community well-being. Key figures like Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti and Abdulrazaq Ameri attended the launch event, highlighting its significance.
The programme is designed to offer specialised courses in various aspects of social work. It focuses on equipping workers with up-to-date knowledge and global best practices. The goal is to develop a skilled workforce capable of providing efficient support to diverse community segments, thereby enhancing government agencies' roles in sustainable development.

Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the CDA, stated that this programme aligns with Dubai's strategic community development objectives. She emphasised that through initiatives like these, Dubai aims to improve life quality for all societal segments. The collaboration with the University of Birmingham will prepare professionals for creating a sustainable impact.
She added that the programme will leverage advanced knowledge and research to develop competencies in the social sector. It will support integrating efforts between government agencies and civil society to achieve sustainable development goals. Specialised training will enhance worker performance, equipping them with skills needed for social cohesion.
The training programme includes a comprehensive analysis of skill gaps in Dubai's social sector. It reviews current regulations and legislation while assessing how professional qualifications align with international standards. Based on these findings, targeted training programmes will be developed focusing on key areas like child protection and elderly support.
An introductory workshop will kick off the training programme, gathering 121 professionals including social specialists from government agencies in Dubai. The workshop will present detailed information about the programme's components and strategic objectives, setting the stage for future activities.
