China Launches 'Travel With Chinese Films' Initiative To Attract International Tourists
The "China Travel with Chinese Films" initiative began in Beijing on 18th February 2025. This event aims to attract global tourists by leveraging the popularity of recent Chinese films and relaxed visa policies. Organised by the China Film Administration and China Media Group (CMG), it seeks to showcase China's diverse attractions through cinema.
Representatives from successful Spring Festival films like "Ne Zha 2", "Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force", and "Detective Chinatown 1900" attended the launch. They discussed their films' international success, highlighting positive reception in markets such as North America, Australia, New Zealand, France, the UK, Spain, Hong Kong, and Macao.

The campaign focuses on distributing Chinese films internationally and participating in film festivals to boost "film-induced tourism." By presenting engaging stories on screen, it aims to inspire audiences worldwide to visit the locations featured in these movies and experience China's culture firsthand.
This initiative promotes collaboration between the film and tourism sectors to create film-themed travel itineraries. These curated journeys allow travellers to relive movie narratives while exploring China's natural beauty and cultural heritage. The approach aims to convert interested viewers into actual tourists.
Foreign cultural ambassadors and travel bloggers have been instrumental in promoting scenic spots featured in Spring Festival blockbusters. Through their efforts, they vividly present China's landscapes as seen through these cinematic works, enticing potential visitors with visual storytelling.
The campaign's goal is to bridge cultural dissemination with consumer engagement. By doing so, it hopes to increase inbound tourism by turning intrigued overseas viewers into visitors eager to explore China's offerings beyond the screen.
The event's launch at the China National Film Museum marked a significant step towards integrating film narratives with tourism experiences. This synergy between industries is expected to enhance both sectors by offering unique travel experiences rooted in popular culture.
