AWQAF Dubai Partners With Al Jalila Foundation For AED 38 Million Endowment Facility At Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital
The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai, known as AWQAF Dubai, has partnered with Al Jalila Foundation, the charitable branch of the Dubai Health Authority. This collaboration aligns with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's charitable initiatives during Ramadan. The partnership focuses on creating a sustainable endowment building to aid patient treatment at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, with costs expected to surpass AED38.5 million.
The agreement between AWQAF Dubai and Al Jalila Foundation outlines the construction of a seven-storey endowment building in Dubai South. The land, valued at AED8.5 million, is owned by Al Jalila Foundation, which will also cover the AED30 million construction cost over 16 months. Both the building and land will be perpetual endowments managed by AWQAF Dubai.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, highlighted that this partnership aims to support humanitarian efforts at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. It reflects AWQAF’s dedication to enhancing healthcare and easing financial burdens on cancer patients' families. The project will be executed promptly, ensuring completion within the set timeframe.
AWQAF Dubai will oversee construction operations and manage investments in the property to maximise benefits for disadvantaged patients. Al Mutawa stated, "Through our endowment projects, we aim to contribute to building a healthy and sustainable society by focusing on developmental endowments." This commitment supports national projects that improve quality of life.
Dr. Raja Eisa Al Gurg, Chairperson of Al Jalila Foundation and Board Member of DHA, expressed gratitude towards AWQAF Dubai for their cooperation in this sustainable endowment project. She emphasised the importance of institutional partnerships in creating lasting impacts on patients’ lives, aligning with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision of embedding charity as a societal principle.
This endowment will provide enduring support to Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, facilitating specialised cancer treatment. As Dubai's first comprehensive cancer hospital, it plays a crucial role in advancing cancer care. Dr. Al Gurg added that this collaboration underscores Al Jalila Foundation’s commitment to its humanitarian mission in supporting healthcare.
The sustainable endowment marks a significant step towards bolstering national efforts for cancer patient support. By working together, both organisations aim to create a lasting impact on healthcare provision and patient care in Dubai.
