Asia’s Finest Yogis Converge In UAE For The 6th Asian Yogasana Championship Promoting Cultural Exchange
The 6th Asian Yogasana Championship (UAE 2025) commenced at Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. This event, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, draws 160 athletes from 16 countries. The championship is a significant occasion for the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation.
Organised with support from the Ministry of Sports, the event collaborates with the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation, UAE Sports for All Federation, and UAE Yoga Committee. It aims to foster cultural and sports exchanges across Asia while promoting yoga asana development in the region.
Saeed Al Ajil, Chairman of the Championship Organising Committee, highlighted that hosting such events reflects the UAE's dedication to advancing its sports sector. He noted that this aligns with national goals to enhance yoga asana and encourage regional cultural exchanges.
The opening ceremony was graced by notable figures including Mohammed Al Dhahouri and Sheikha Al Kaabi from the Federal National Council (FNC). Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, President of the Emirates Sports for All Federation, and Nouf Mazrouei, President of the Asian Yogasana Sports Federation (AYSF), were also present.
The championship features several accompanying events like the Asian Yoga Excellence Awards ceremony. This ceremony recognises six influential individuals from Asia for their contributions to yoga's growth within their countries. It also acknowledges institutions and individuals promoting peace and preserving cultural heritage globally through yoga.
This two-day event not only showcases athletic talent but also celebrates those who have significantly impacted people's lives through yoga. The awards highlight efforts in spreading health benefits associated with yoga practices.
By hosting international championships like this one, the UAE demonstrates its commitment to supporting sports development. The focus on yoga asana aligns with broader objectives to promote wellness and cultural understanding across Asia.
