Arab Parliament Criticises Global Inaction On Gaza, Calling It A Cruel Expression Of Hatred
The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, highlighted the global community's lack of response to the plight of Palestinians. He described this inaction as a stark display of hatred and racism, perpetuated through political means. This statement was made during a panel on combating hatred at the Second Interfaith Dialogue Conference in Rome.
Al Yamahi pointed out that hatred based on religion or belief is often driven by cultural and ethnic biases. These biases lead to discriminatory and hostile attitudes towards those who are different. He called this the harshest form of hate. "Hatred based on religion or belief is fuelled by various cultural and ethnic biases, which generate discriminatory and hostile discourse toward those who are different. It's the cruellest expression of hate," he stated.

During his visit to Italy, Al Yamahi met with Ignazio La Russa, President of the Italian Senate. They discussed ways to enhance Arab-Italian parliamentary relations. Al Yamahi proposed a cooperation agreement between the Arab Parliament and the Italian Senate to solidify these ties.
La Russa agreed that mutual understanding between Arabs and Italians is crucial for improving relations across various sectors. He emphasised that this understanding serves as a key foundation for strengthening bilateral connections.
Al Yamahi criticised the world's selective condemnation of hatred, noting that it lacks credibility when it only speaks out against hate directed at itself while ignoring others' suffering. He urged an end to international hypocrisy and double standards, advocating for genuine justice and respect for human dignity regardless of faith or identity.
The ongoing suffering of Palestinians over the past year and a half has been marked by severe crimes such as genocide and starvation. Al Yamahi's remarks aimed to draw attention to these issues and call for a more just international response.
The discussions between Al Yamahi and La Russa reflect efforts to build stronger diplomatic ties between Arab nations and Italy. Such collaborations could pave the way for enhanced cooperation in various fields, benefiting both regions.
