Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee Calls For Immediate End To Israeli Aggression On Gaza

The Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit Ministerial Committee has reiterated its commitment to stopping Israeli actions in Gaza. It aims to end the humanitarian crisis there and support the Palestinian people's right to an independent state. The committee views the two-state solution as essential for achieving lasting peace.

Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister, Ayman Safadi, hosted a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and other committee members. They discussed strategies to halt the conflict in Gaza and support the Palestinian Authority. The committee is pushing for international recognition of Palestine and success at a peace conference in New York later this June.

Committee Demands Halt to Gaza Aggression

The committee also emphasised backing the Palestinian Authority and advancing political processes to end Israeli aggression. It stressed empowering the PA, speeding up reconstruction, and ensuring success at the upcoming international peace conference in New York. This conference is co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France.

A video call chaired by Prince Faisal included King Abdullah II of Jordan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, his deputy Hussein Al-Sheikh, and Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa. This meeting followed Israel's refusal to allow the committee's visit to Ramallah, which they criticised as a violation of international law.

The committee urged Israel to permit immediate entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza without conditions. It called on Israel to enable UNRWA to perform its duties and cease escalation in the West Bank. The committee warned about worsening humanitarian conditions if these actions are not taken.

King Abdullah II highlighted the importance of mobilising international efforts to stop the war on Gaza. He stressed that recognising Palestinian rights is crucial for achieving lasting peace. The committee reviewed preparations for an international conference on political settlement organised by Saudi Arabia and France in New York this month.

Condemnation of Israeli Actions

The committee condemned Israel's prevention of their planned visit to Ramallah as a breach of diplomatic norms. They viewed it as an attempt to hinder efforts towards comprehensive peace and supporting the Palestinian government.

The Gaza Reconstruction Conference is scheduled in Cairo after a ceasefire agreement, based on plans from an Arab summit held in March 2025. The committee remains focused on urging more countries to recognise Palestine and ensuring practical outcomes from the New York peace conference.

The committee continues its work towards halting aggression in Gaza, ending humanitarian crises, and supporting Palestinian statehood through diplomatic channels and international cooperation.
