Arab Federation For Digital Economy Engages In Global Digital Governance Forum And World Bank Meetings In Geneva
The Arab Federation for Digital Economy recently engaged in several significant international events in Geneva. These included the Global Forum for Digital Governance Solutions, known as "GovTech Deep-Dive," and the "Trust Valley Day 2025." The Federation also held meetings with the World Bank to discuss enhancing cooperation on digital economy projects across the Arab region.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Al-Khouri, who leads the Federation’s Board of Directors, headed the delegation. The forum explored global trends in GovTech and digital solutions that boost institutional efficiency and service quality. It also focused on increasing transparency and preparing for future technological changes.

The World Bank organised sessions with government delegations, international experts, and global tech institutions. They highlighted the need for strategic partnerships between governments and private sectors to advance digital transformation projects. These collaborations aim to share expertise in artificial intelligence, government data, institutional transformation, and digital security.
The Federation also took part in the "Trust Valley Day 2025" event. This gathering concentrated on digital trust and data security topics. It featured cutting-edge applications that support innovation in cybersecurity. Startups from the "Tech4Trust" programme presented their work, showcasing accelerated innovation efforts in Europe.
In addition to these events, the Federation attended the "GovTech Innovation Challenge 2025" awards ceremony. This event was organised by the World Bank alongside the Swiss government. The challenge aims to foster innovative solutions in digital governance, with winners announced during this ceremony.
Collaborative Efforts with World Bank
On the sidelines of these events, a joint meeting between the Arab Federation for Digital Economy and a World Bank team took place. Discussions focused on cooperation regarding Arab digital transformation initiatives like the Arab Digital Economy Index and Projects Platform.
The World Bank commended the UAE’s initiative to develop an Arab vision for a digital economy and establish an Arab Index. They noted that UAE has become a global leader in digital development due to its advanced technological infrastructure and innovation-driven strategies.
Enhancing Methodologies
Dr. Ali Al-Khouri stated that collaborating with the World Bank is crucial for developing methodologies for the Arab Digital Transformation Index. By involving the Bank more deeply in technical committees, they aim to improve assessment tools' efficiency and ensure accurate reflections of Arab countries' digital economies.
The discussions also covered strengthening cooperation on the Arab Digital Transformation Projects Platform. This platform is being developed with UNDP and ESCWA's help to create a formal system for compiling and classifying digital economy projects aligned with Arab agendas.
Future Prospects
Dr. Al-Khouri emphasised that these engagements provide a practical framework for boosting international cooperation in digital economies. They allow Arab nations to learn from global experiences in building resilient digital infrastructures that meet future needs.
The Union plans to continue working with international partners to support developing Arab digital policies according to best global practices. This effort aims at promoting economic development and achieving integration within Arab digital landscapes.
