Global Future Councils And Cybersecurity 2025: A Roadmap For Enhancing Resilience In Key Sectors
The UAE Government, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF), launched the Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025. The event was attended by H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, among others. Over 700 experts and specialists participated, highlighting the significance of this gathering.
Mohammad Al Gergawi emphasised that the UAE's strategic focus is on enhancing readiness and resilience across all sectors. He noted that international cooperation is crucial, facilitated by platforms that encourage diverse and inclusive dialogue. "The success of the Global Future Councils, organised by the UAE Government in partnership with the World Economic Forum, embodies the shared vision of the two parties," he said.
Ohood Al Roumi highlighted the importance of involving youth in decision-making processes to achieve global leadership. She stated that understanding new generations' mindsets is essential for progress. "The Government of the United Arab Emirates, guided by its leadership, has recognised the truth that the future cannot be designed in isolation from the youth," she asserted.
Al Roumi also pointed out that digital technology will drive 70% of new value over the next decade. Artificial Intelligence (AI) could add up to $7 trillion to global GDP by 2030. However, this requires human-centric design and ethical standards. The rapid digital wave demands new skills for society to master AI's potential fully.
The rise in technology use has led to increased cyber threats, with costs expected to reach $20 trillion annually by 2030. Al Roumi stressed that resilience and secure digital infrastructure are essential for a prosperous future. She mentioned redefining resilience as crucial due to rapid changes outpacing current systems' capabilities.
Børge Brende, President and CEO of WEF, remarked on technological advancements amid complex global affairs. "We meet at a time of great complexity and even greater possibility," Brende said. He noted geopolitical fragmentation and technological change are reshaping our world but warned that growth isn't sufficient for everyone.
Global Collaboration and Future Prospects
Brende observed that technology now forms our living system rather than just a tool we use. He highlighted AI's potential to revolutionise growth and health sectors but cautioned about global tensions affecting collaboration efforts. "Our speed of problem-solving needs to be ahead of our speed of problem-creation," he added.
The upcoming WEF Annual Meeting in Davos will focus on 'A Spirit of Dialogue'. Brende expressed optimism about laying an intellectual foundation for this theme during their gathering in Dubai, a city known for innovation and global vision.
The event underscored how vital it is for countries to reform quickly amidst uncertainty while leveraging technological advancements responsibly. The discussions aimed at fostering dialogue among nations towards achieving common goals through innovation-driven strategies.
