Amna Al Shamsi Becomes First Emirati Member Of IPSASB Consultative Advisory Group
The Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) has welcomed Amna Hassan Al Shamsi as a member. Al Shamsi, who serves as Director of Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards at the Ministry of Finance, will hold this position for a renewable three-year term, potentially extending up to nine years.
This appointment signifies the UAE's first official presence on this global council. The CAG plays a crucial role in advancing international public sector accounting standards and enhancing financial governance and transparency worldwide. This move underscores international trust in Emirati expertise in financial policy and government accounting.

Younis Haji AlKhoori, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, highlighted that this achievement adds to the UAE’s record of active participation in global financial organisations. It reaffirms the nation's leadership in adopting top-tier international standards for public financial management. AlKhoori stated that this aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ Vision, emphasising fiscal sustainability and government transparency.
AlKhoori further noted that Al Shamsi’s role on the council showcases the significant contribution of Emirati women in international financial leadership. It reflects the UAE’s strategy to empower national talent to influence and develop global financial frameworks effectively.
The CAG is a vital advisory component of IPSASB. It unites representatives from various international organisations, financial institutions, and government entities globally. Their mission is to provide strategic and technical guidance on developing International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
