ALC Launches Digital Arabic Library To Enhance Access To Arabic Publications With Arabookverse
The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), under the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has introduced the Digital Arabic Library. This initiative is a collaboration with Arabookverse (ABV), a publisher of audiobooks and e-books. Announced at the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair, this project aims to offer thousands of Arabic publications in digital and audio formats globally.
Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of ALC, highlighted the project's significance in providing innovative ways for readers to access Arabic cultural content. He noted that online Arabic content is limited compared to the number of Arabic speakers. The initiative aims to bridge this gap by making more content accessible.

Ali Abdel-Moneim, Co-Founder and CEO of Arabookverse, expressed pride in partnering with ALC. He stated, "We are proud of our partnership with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, a pioneer in promoting the Arabic language through its unique efforts and initiatives that serve to consolidate Arabic culture and connect readers and learners wherever they are." This collaboration underscores their shared commitment to enhancing the reach of Arabic literature.
The project reflects ALC's strategy to transform how Arabic books are digitised. It supports the publishing industry through creative initiatives like those seen at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. By offering quality programmes, ALC aims to drive a qualitative shift in digital publishing.
To manage this ambitious project effectively, ALC will establish a high-level steering committee. This group will oversee operations and include advisory committees responsible for maintaining content quality and adherence to ALC's standards. These measures ensure that all publications meet rigorous criteria before reaching readers.
This agreement promises millions of readers access to numerous editions of printed, electronic, and audio publications in Arabic. It highlights ALC's dedication to advancing the digitisation process while supporting the broader publishing sector through pioneering projects.
The Digital Arabic Library is set to revolutionise access to Arabic literature worldwide by offering diverse formats for consumption. This initiative not only enhances accessibility but also strengthens cultural connections among Arabic speakers globally.
