AJBWC Completes Second Plastic Greenhouse Project To Empower Members In Sustainable Agriculture

Dr. Amna Khalifa Al Ali, Chairwoman of the Ajman Business Women Council (AJBWC), shared that the AJBWC has successfully completed its second cooled plastic greenhouse project under the 'Plant and Reap' initiative. This effort is designed to empower AJBWC members to engage in home gardening, aligning with their strategic goals and supporting the Plant the Emirates National Programme.

Dr. Khalifa highlighted AJBWC's commitment to diversifying support for agricultural projects, which aligns with UAE's sustainability objectives. The initiative encourages local communities to grow a variety of crops at home, boosting productivity and ensuring Emirati women's role in food security and economic growth.

AJBWC Launches Second Greenhouse Initiative

The AJBWC collaborates with Alshamsi Farms to provide technical assistance, supervision, and guidance on plant cultivation. They also supply seedlings and seeds to help women gain expertise in agriculture, enhance productivity, and improve crop quality. The council aims to expand greenhouse projects into profitable ventures by marketing surplus produce through the "Rufuf" platform.

Dr. Khalifa urged housewives and businesswomen to seize opportunities presented by the plastic greenhouse initiative for sustainable home-based agriculture. She stressed the significance of agricultural entrepreneurship in bolstering the local economy and conserving environmental resources.

Dr. Obaid Ali Alshamsi, Chairman of Al Shamsi Agricultural Projects Management Consulting, explained that this project involves a fully-cooled greenhouse using sustainable hydroponic methods. These techniques allow for year-round cultivation of "leafy greens and fruitful plants," aiming for high-quality self-sufficiency at home.

Halima Al Hammadi, who founded the Cooled Greenhouse project, expressed her gratitude towards AJBWC for empowering businesswomen through modern agriculture initiatives. She acknowledged the council's role in enhancing women's capabilities in sustainable agricultural practices.

The wise leadership's support was commended by Dr. Khalifa for promoting local agricultural production and encouraging innovative farming initiatives. The use of advanced technologies helps conserve resources, reduce water usage for irrigation, and address challenges in agricultural development within the country.

The AJBWC remains focused on expanding existing plastic greenhouse projects while developing them into profitable ventures beyond household consumption. This approach not only supports individual empowerment but also contributes significantly to broader economic goals.
