ADPHC's Seasonal Flu Vaccine Campaign Reaches Nearly 300,000 Residents In Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC) has successfully vaccinated nearly 300,000 individuals in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Region, and Al Dhafra with the seasonal flu vaccine for the 2024–2025 campaign. This marks a 45% increase from the previous season, highlighting ADPHC's proactive approach to community health and the importance of widespread immunity against seasonal influenza.

ADPHC's strategy focused on expanding vaccine accessibility, particularly targeting high-risk groups. These include healthcare workers, people aged 65 and above, pregnant women, those with chronic conditions, and children under five. The initiative ensured that everyone aged six months and older could receive the vaccine, promoting broad community protection.

Collaboration with healthcare facilities and providers was crucial to the campaign's success. Vaccines were administered in both traditional and non-traditional settings. Majalis gatherings in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Region, and Al Dhafra were key sites for vaccination, enhancing direct community engagement.

Major malls throughout Abu Dhabi also served as convenient access points for residents. Additionally, outreach initiatives targeted diverse communities through vaccination drives at cultural centres and embassies. This comprehensive approach ensured wide-reaching vaccine availability.

The campaign extended to various government entities to ensure essential workers and public sector employees had access to vaccines at their workplaces. This aligns with ADPHC’s ongoing efforts to enhance public health awareness and promote wellbeing across the emirate.

Dr. Rashed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of ADPHC, stated: "At Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC), we remain committed to empowering our community to lead longer, healthier lives through a wide range of proactive initiatives, including vaccination campaigns, awareness programmes and regular screenings, and more."

The campaign's success reflects increased community awareness about vaccination importance. It underscores ADPHC's dedication to working with partners to improve vaccine accessibility. By prioritising vaccination as preventive care, they aim to reduce seasonal influenza impact and build a healthier community.
