Abu Dhabi Boosts Agricultural Sector With ADAFSA Livestock Data Update Initiative
The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has introduced a new initiative to update livestock data. This effort aims to ensure accurate animal numbers and monitor health and production, aiding the development of the livestock sector in Abu Dhabi.
This initiative will create a comprehensive database of livestock in the emirate. Accurate data will support informed decision-making, boost productivity, and enhance food security. It will also provide tailored support for breeders based on herd composition and improve monitoring of animal movements.

Feedback from breeders indicated that outdated data led to insufficient support. Despite ADAFSA's efforts, maintaining accurate livestock information is essential for maximising economic returns from farming. The authority stressed the importance of updating livestock data to address these concerns.
ADAFSA urged livestock owners to register untagged animals in the Animal Identification and Registration System. Breeders should apply for tagging services via the "TAMM" platform when moving animals to another location. This ensures they benefit from ADAFSA's support and services.
The authority prohibited removing approved identification tags without consent. Selling, purchasing, transferring, or holding untagged animals is illegal and could result in legal consequences under relevant livestock legislation.
Support from Leadership
The animal wealth sector receives significant support from the leadership, encouraging Emirati farmers to engage in livestock breeding. This backing highlights the importance placed on developing the sector for food security and biosecurity objectives.
The Animal Wealth Sector at ADAFSA is dedicated to creating plans and programmes for breeders. These efforts play a vital role in the growth and preservation of livestock in Abu Dhabi, aligning with broader goals of food security and biosecurity.
By updating livestock data, ADAFSA aims to enhance productivity and ensure better resource allocation. Accurate information will help address breeder needs more effectively, contributing to the overall development of the sector.
